Medical Devices & Equipment Fulfillment
Ecommerce is making it easier for people to stay on top of their health. Thanks to technology, modern healthcare, and innovation, ecommerce brands that offer medical device and equipment are growing.
But fulfilling and shipping medical devices and equipment comes with its own set of challenges. That’s why many fast-growing medical device brands outsource fulfillment to a 3PL like ShipBob to alleviate time, money, and headaches.
ShipBob’s analytics tool is also really cool. It helps us a lot with planning inventory reorders, seeing when SKUs are going to run out, and we can even set up email notifications so that we’re alerted when a SKU has less than a certain quantity left. There is a lot of value in their technology.

What is medical devices and equipment fulfillment?
Medical device and equipment fulfillment involves the process of safely storing product and picking, packing, and shipping orders to end users. Medical device and equipment products include thermometers to food sensitivity kits. These types of products require extra care during the fulfillment process.
ShipBob’s order fulfillment process
ShipBob has partnered with a wide range of brands to help optimize their order fulfillment process. Once we receive your inventory at one or more of our fulfillment center locations, it is then stored in our warehouse until items are ready to be fulfilled.
Once orders are placed on your online store, our fulfillment experts pick and pack items and ship orders as fast as possible. We partner with top shipping carriers and negotiate bulk shipping rates to pass the savings on to you and your customers.
ShipBob makes it easy to track the entire inventory and order management process from a single dashboard. Your ShipBob dashboard offers powerful data and analytics reporting that provides deep insights into your supply chain. With this data you can continuously optimize and improve your retail supply chain, accurately forecast inventory, prepare for seasonal fluctuations in sales, and much more.
“When you’re dealing with logistics, you want everything to flow, and ShipBob has been able to help out with pretty much every shipping issue we’ve come across.”
Toby Davis, Assistant Director of Operations, Azurro Group
How ShipBob works
ShipBob makes it easy to outsource fulfillment. ShipBob offers direct integration with leading ecommerce platforms, including Shopify and Shopify Plus, WooCommerce, Squarespace, Wix, and Square Online.
Once you connect your store with ShipBob’s technology, you can choose which fulfillment center locations (across the US and in Canada, Australia, the EU, and the UK) to store inventory in. Once we receive and store your inventory, orders placed on your online store will automatically be sent to ShipBob to be picked, packed, and shipped.
You can track the entire fulfillment process from the ShipBob’s dashboard, and you can view inventory levels and order status all in real time.
“I don’t want to have to ask multiple people for information or wait for reports on stock levels at various locations. Now, I can literally go into my ShipBob dashboard and see exactly what I want to see with a few clicks. I love that it’s a quick snapshot of everything that’s going on. I can literally not look at the ShipBob platform for 3 weeks, and then log in and within 10 minutes of analyzing the data, I know exactly where we stand in the business.”

Distributed inventory
With ShipBob’s network of fulfillment centers, you can strategically split your inventory across our locations to get your products from point A to point B more quickly and affordably. Storing inventory near your customers helps reduce the shipping zones and costs associated with shipping orders to faraway destinations.
Distributed inventory also helps you stay competitive by offering fast shipping to your customers. When an order is placed, ShipBob’s algorithm automatically selects the warehouse and carrier that will give you the quickest turnaround at the best price. This strategy has helped our merchants bring 13% savings to their bottom line.
100% Coverage Across the Continental US
If you’re looking to expand into the United States, ShipBob has 2-Day Express Shipping that provides 100% coverage in the continental US from even just one fulfillment center.
You can also distribute your inventory across ShipBob’s fulfillment centers across all regions of the United States. We leave it up to you to decide where you want us to store your inventory.
Order management
At ShipBob, we track your orders from A to Z. Filter orders by status, search for specific orders, see a quick timeline view of where your order is in the fulfillment process (e.g. when an order is picked, packed, or shipped), easily find shipping-related information (e.g., weights, dimensions, or carrier service), and get a quick snapshot of any orders that require action.
With order management software for your direct-to-consumer and wholesale shipments, you can manage subscriptions, make changes to your orders post-purchase, map your store’s shipping options to ShipBob, and automatically share tracking information with your customers.
Reporting and analytics
To provide you with visibility into our operations and performance, and also hold ourselves accountable, ShipBob’s free analytics tool is packed with charts to help you with everything from year-end reporting, to better supply chain decision-making.
Data can be a competitive advantage, and our reports show an analysis of which fulfillment centers you should stock, days of inventory left before you run out, impact of promotions on stock levels, each shipping method’s average cart value, shipping cost, and days in transit, your fulfillment cost per order, storage cost per unit, and much more.
End-to-end customer experience
We care about the customer experience as much as you and strive to be an extension of your team. From custom branded boxes to free plain packaging, ShipBob works with you to provide the unboxing experience you want. We also help you offer the fastest, most cost-effective shipping options to meet your customers’ expectations.
As soon as an order ships, tracking is pushed back to your store. We also offer return management services, allowing customers to generate return shipping labels and track returns, while getting your products processed and back into your available inventory as efficiently as possible.
